In China, T10 Steel is considered to be an alloy which is made of tungsten and carbon steel, where the proportion of steel is 1% of carbon steel and 0.35% of silicon. The use of tungsten is done to make the steel scratch resistant. This clearly specifies why Tungsten Swords is so tough. It is somehow similar to Tamahagane steel rather than any other steel found in market. It is less in quality than 1095 steel but pure in all respect. The process of tempering the steel makes the product tougher. The process of polishing these swords are done with special kind of stones as the surface is very hard. If 1095 and T10 Steel is kept side by side, it is not easy for a normal person to identify the quality and specifications. It definitely requires a deep research through metallurgy.

The clay mixture is the applied differentially to the spine and the edges of the blade. The application is done while heating the steel. This process is then followed by hammering the steel before quenching it in water or oil. The differential clay application followed by quenching results ensures that the edges are hard while the spine remain relatively soft.

Tungsten Swords is classified as the fine and most expensive samurai sword. They mostly use the traditional process of forging, treating with heat, quenching, clay tempered and many more which is not usually used in making many swords. Even if you find similarities in the manufacturing of all the swords but still Katanas are different while it comes to the quality of steel used. T10 Steel is the material which excels in steel material and that is the reason why Tungsten Swords Katanas are more appreciated.

The folding and welding process gave the steel a billet shape. The sword makers would then precede to clay application that marked the start of making Clay tempered katana. This process entails covering the blade with a special layer of wet clay mixture prepared as per the desired proportions that is unique and secretly kept by each sword smith. However, it is usually a mixture of clay, water, stone powder rusts, and sometimes ash.
