The all-star lineup for director Jon Favreau's brand new take on Disney's 1994 classic animated movie"The Lion King" includes stars from the film, TV, theater and music arenas. Featuring filmmaking techniques, back to the big screen iconic characters that audiences have treasured -- but in a completely new way are welcomed by the movie. From Disney Live Action,"The Lion King" is slated for U.S. theaters on July 19, 2019.

Lions rule the African savanna at"The Lion King," that welcomes Donald Glover as potential king Simba, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as Simba's friend-turned-love fascination Nala, and James Earl Jones as Simba's wise and loving father, Mufasa, reprising his iconic performance from Disney's 1994 animated classic. Chiwetel Ejiofor was called to portray Simba's villainous uncle Scar, and Alfre Woodard waltdisneystudios portrays Sarabi, Simba mum. JD McCrary fills the shoes of Young Simba, a confident cub who can't wait to be king, and Shahadi Wright Joseph brings cub Young Nala that is tough to existence.

Every kingdom comes with a advisor or 2. John Kani was cast as the baboon Rafiki, and John Oliver was tapped as hornbill Zazu, the loyal confidant of Mufasa. He is based on two friends, when Simba goes into exile --Seth Rogen lends his chops to naïve warthog Pumbaa, and Billy Eichner joins the cast as meerkat Timon.

While the king is respected by most of the creatures in the kingdom, the hyenas have plans. Florence Kasumba portrays Shenzi, Eric André is Azizi, and Keegan-Michael Key and Kamari play.
