Enoch Blackwell

Enoch Blackwell was born in Avening, Gloucestershire,  England in 1764 to John and Sarah Cole Blackwell. He married on the 3rd of December 1787 Hannah Perrine. They had seven Children. In 1805 Encoh Blackwell came to America with a group of settler one being the  Rev. John Hay a minister who had acquired a large body of land in Lycoming County Pennsylvania with the intentof  inducing a colony of his countrymen to emigrate and settle on these lands.On the 20th of September 1807 he sold Enoch Blackwell 1, 200 acres  for $3,600, on the tract called Maple Bottom now known as Oregon Hill.

 But becoming discouraged, Enoch Blackwell, his son William, and family left Oregon Hill in 1811, and settled on Pine creek, at what is now known as the town of Blackwell's, just outside of Lycoming County Pennsylvania. Enoch died at Jersey Shore in on 3 June 1816 1816, aged fifty-two, and was buried in the Davidson burial ground near the mouth of Pine creek
