We all came into this world with the light of Christ within us. It stays with us throughout our lives. We also receive the Holy Ghost when we are confirmed after baptism. The Holy Ghost is a tremendous advantage to us to guide us through this life, but what about those without baptism, or those that lived during the dark ages of the great apostasy when the line of priesthood was broken?

Did, or does, our heavenly father abandon us?

As a good parent, he does not. That is the beauty of gods plan for us. We all have the light of Christ to help us. Is it

everything we need? No. but it shows us that we are not left to our own devices if we are

willing to listen.

President Boyd K. Packer puts it this way:

"Jesus spoke of “the stone which the builders rejected” (Matt. 21:42). Then the shadow of apostasy settled over the earth. The line of priesthood authority was broken. But mankind was not left in total darkness or completely without revelation or inspiration. The idea that with the Crucifixion of Christ the heavens were closed and that they opened in the First Vision is not true. The Light of Christ would be everywhere present to attend the children of God; the Holy Ghost would visit seeking souls. The prayers of the righteous would not go unanswered.

"The conferring of the gift of the Holy Ghost must await the restoration of the priesthood and the dispensation of the fullness of times, when all things would be revealed. Temple work—ordinance work—would then be revealed. Then those who lived during the many generations when essential ordinances were unavailable, when baptism was not available, would be redeemed. God never abandons His children. He never has abandoned this earth."

I heard a statement on a christian radio show a few years ago as I was driving out to my favorite hunting spot. The host said: “Our heavenly father is not the kind of father that child services were invented for”.

Scriptures show us that this is a very true analogy. He is with us at all times through the light of Christ. As we build our lives we can now gain the advantages of baptism and the Holy Ghost. We also now have the advantages of the ordinances available in temple.

How blessed we are to have our heavenly father, his son Jesus Christ, and the holy ghost watching over us! And I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
