I  have always enjoyed politics, debate, humor, family, and animal stories. When one writes a humor column, there is the opportunity to dive into all topics at once and with little reverence, often on the same plane. Some of the topics I like to tackle are sin, shame, and society since I teach the Scarlet Letter.  Shame needs more attention, and I do plan to write more about this belief. Animals and parents don’t get enough credit. And the silent majority of people don’t really care about Sara Palin or the Tea Party. Hell, I may not even vote.

Years ago when I wrote a weekly column for the Community Depress and the Prattville Progress, friends cautioned me not to write about my children -- and such fodder! I thought. Still, I mostly avoided embarrassing my daughters. They’re grown now.
