The Internet was made for making communication easier. It may have initially had war purposes in its origins, but today, it is all about communication. One can use many forms of communication on the Internet – email, a chat or video chat messaging system, or even Voice over the Internet protocols. Short message sending, tweets or posts over one's own social media network are other ways of communicating, and the cost is only an Internet connection, which one may even get for free in the right places.

The SEO Lens

This almost free means of communication comes at a price – everyone has something to say. Search engines become extremely useful in this loud background of noise, singling out the important messages through search engine optimization and finding out which voice is relevant enough to be heard. However, what results is that the message with the best SEO service becomes the loudest voice, and not necessarily the best voice to be heard over the incessant drone of the web.

The Turn of Internet into Business

Hiring an SEO company may make for a loud web voice, but recent and valid complaints over SEO services say that having the loudest voice is not the best situation for everyone else. Search engine optimization has become a tool for those who have the budget for it, and no other sector but business has the funds to pay for the service. The result, more often than not, is a business related list of the top ten search results, which does make good business, but poor communicating.

For the Private Internet User

It is as if outside of your social media network or email messages, the Internet has become purely business oriented, and that is the gift that SEO brings. While the Internet is more than wide enough to accommodate any and all interests, search engine results narrowing down all your interests to a business relevant to your keyword search is not always to your best interest. Ask any researcher on the Internet and the opinion is the same.

On the other side of the coin, people who have something important to say are drowned out by these very same voices. For example, the Horn of Africa is about food distribution and famine – try looking up on any search engine the keyword “food” and see what place the Horn of Africa gets in any search engine result. Affiliating with a business is almost a necessary step in getting a word in edgewise on the web, which may be acceptable to some people, but definitely not all.

The tool that is supposed to create a clearer picture of the web has become the proverbial rose-colored glasses, and you have to be really specific with your searches to find the web voice that you want to hear. And this is just on the side of hearing – the SEO barrier becomes that much more prominent when you have to speak in your loudest web voice in order to be heard over everyone else.
