The Future of Ultimate Gaming – Nintendo 3DS Games

On March 23, 2010, Nintendo announced its development of a new handheld gaming console, 3DS. This new system has taken gamers by storm and has been anxiously waiting for its release ever since. On February 2011, the long wait was over for the Japanese market while it was on March of the same year for North America. This game console succeeded the Nintendo DS software which was originally released seven years before the 3DS’ release. DS basically means “Dual System” or “Developer’s System” that intelligently integrates two lenses that create an in depth and realistic image for the left and right eye giving it a 3D effect. Along with the release of this awesome new gaming technology is Nintendo’s 3DS games.

Among the Nintendo 3DS games released on launch day are Super Monkey Ball, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars, and Super Street Fighter IV. There were also pre-loaded games, features, and applications that go with the package.

The Nintendo 3DS games’ enhanced feature includes augmented reality, Virtual Console service, StreetPass and SpotPass Mode, video playback capability, backward compatibility, and Mii.


There are 6 paper cards for augmented reality games that is included in 3DS. Augmentation is on a real-time basis and simulated well with the games environment’s audio, video, and graphics setting. This gives a whole new feel and perception to one’s view of reality.

Nintendo 3DS tap Virtual Console services as part of its system update. Now gamers can purchase and download games and other software through Nintendo’s eShop. Purchase can be made on a cash basis or point-based system. Nintendo just announced its support for TurboGrafx-16 softwares and Sega Game Gear. Aside from this new titles, Nintendo 3DS also features Game Boy and Game Boy Color portable consoles.

The intuitive integration of the StreetPass and SpotPass capabilities lets the users’ 3DS system to passively exchange data. Also, it automatically looks for Wifi signals and download data even in sleep mode. This background functionality thus increases multi-player connectivity and system communication.

Warner Bros, Disney and DreamWorks 3D movies are also an exciting feature in the every Nintendo 3DS game. At E3 2010, Nintendo demonstrated this feature using the 3D video trailers of Disney’s Tangled, Warner Bros’ Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Gal’Hoole, and DreamWorks’ How to Train Your Dragon. Nintendo has already teamed up with various animation companies aside from the aforementioned three.

Nintendo’s 3DS is also compatible with its older DS software. However, the original DS and DSi softwares are displayed on a stretched resolution on a 3DS screen since the latter are considerably larger than that used by its earlier version. Nevertheless, the user still has the option to revert the game back to its original interface with black borders on the side.

Now, Nintendo’s 3DS games can be enjoyed further with its Mii transmission feature. Mii characters created on the Wii can be transported to the 3DS system by converting the Mii into digital codes that can be retrieved when printed or placed on websites. The 3DS version of these Mii characters are more intricate like in terms of physical attributes, so transmission of the 3DS character back to Wii is impossible.

Some of the other Nintendo 3DS games that employs all of the advanced features named above are Super Monkey Ball 3D, Tales of the Abyss, Steel Diver, Puss in Boots, Naruto Shippuden 3D: The New Era, Kid Icarus: Uprising, Happy Feet Two, Fish On, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, and whole lot more. Some of these are not yet due for release.

With all the fun that’s packed with Nintendo’s new 3DS system and games, one can surely be assured of advanced entertainment with high-tech 3D visuals and superb audio that only Nintendo can deliver.
