PEOPLE OFTEN ASK, WHY DO WE PRAY ?

C.S. Lewis describes that:  "Miracles puts forward many questions about the life of faith. Among them is the subject of prayer.  Why do we pray? Do we pray because God is likely to change his will? Do we pray because if we don’t, we think that God won’t have the opportunity to change his will for our course in life? Or, do we pray because it’s somehow a solvent for events and realities well outside of our control?"

God knew us before we were ever born. We pray to thank our creator for all that we have and have encounter in this life, to bring us closer to him, and all the goodness which he gives us in our everyday existence.

I truly believe that sometimes God allows bad things to interfere in our lives so that he may bring us closer to him, It's his way of getting our attention. When things in our lives are fine and going well, we believe that we are self sufficient and don't need God (see the story of Job in the Bible for a great illustration of this) But we are only truly strong when we are on our knees, depending on God to guide us in the direction that he wishes us to take, and the life he wants us to live.

Sometimes we get to feeling guilty while reading the bible, because the point they are trying to get across to you might seem to pinpoint your sins directly, those things we have done in this life that we regretted doing. Everyone has sin, all of us fall short of the grace and glory of God, However when we pray, and ask Christ to forgive us,   He forgives and forgets IT!  If you are truly sorry, and promise to try and not to commit that same sin again.  That is his promise to us, It's in the past and you have a new leash on life,

He takes the sins from within us and washes our spirit anew. Jesus Christ died for our sins and shed his blood,  so that we would not have to suffer after this life, and If we are willing to put our trust and faith in him, and live our lives according to his word, you need no longer worry. It's a decision each of us must make for ourselves before we pass away.
