St. Aidan's Anglican Church is located in Antioch, CA and is a Chapel ministry of St David's Anglican Church in San Rafael. While in Seminary (in preparation for the Priesthood), Deacon Jerry Hix and Family attended and served at St David's Church in San Anselmo (now in San Rafael) on Sundays. We started a satellite Chapel ministry in Deacon Hix's home in Antioch, meeting on Saturday evenings. Our first service was held on The Feast of Holy Cross, Sept. 14, 2002. Fr "Aidan" Jerry Hix was ordained a Priest on February 5, 2005; and received the ordination name of "Aidan". Thereafter, we officially started St Aidan's Church and began meeting on Sundays. Both Fr Hix and the Church recieved the name of "Aidan" after our Patron- Saint Aidan of Lindisfarne. Fr Aidan took Solemn Final Vows as a First Order Secular Friar in the Order of St Columba (a community of secular and celibate monastics) in August of 2007. Please see the following more for information: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/orderofstcolumba/ Our Doctrinal and Spiritual moorings are The Great Ecumenical Councils of the Undivided Church of the first Millenium, including the Creeds, Liturgies, and Teachings of the Church Fathers. The Nicene Creed is our statement of Faith; and the Apostle's Creed is our Baptismal Covenant. "See to it that you teach nothing. . .which you would have religiously held and believed by the people, save what is agreeable to the teaching of the Old or New Testament, and what the Catholic fathers and ancient bishops have collected from this self-same doctrine." -The Canons of the Church of England, 1571 We encourage a balanced charismatic parish life in a Classical Anglican expression. In terms of the Charismatic, we follow the words of St. Ambrose- "Let Us Drink the Sober Intoxication of the Holy Spirit with Joy!" We adhere to Traditional Family Values and Biblical Orthodoxy without apology. Authorized for worship, is the Book of Common Prayer (BCP) 1928 and 1979, and the Anglican Service Book (ASB). The Divine Offices are from the Daily Office Book (BCP or ASB) and the Traditional St. Augustine's Prayer Book. Other recommended resources are the Anglican Breviary and the Monastic Diurnal.
