Spay/Canada
A Low-cost spay/neuter program
Operated by the Bond Foundation For Animal Welfare
The Bond Foundation for Animal Welfare is a Canadian Registered Charity that began operation in 1999 for the purposes of reducing the overpopulation of dogs and cats. Our mandate is to spay and neuter stray and abandoned animals and to educate and encourage pet owners to have their animals fixed.
The Foundation also operates Spay/Canada, a low-cost sterilization program aimed primarily at low-income individuals and families that might otherwise be unable to afford to have their animals fixed.
Spay/Canada was started in 1999 with the support and advice of Spay/USA. Veterinarians who sign up for participation agree to lower their prices for the cost of the first vaccination and the spay or neuter operation.
Spay/USA has been immensely successful with Spay/Canada considerably less so. Spay/Canada is currently operating out of Montreal and able to support low-cost spay neuters in this area only.
It is the ultimate goal of Spay/Canada to see facilities across Canada. It will require the cooperation and efforts of many people to see this come to fruition.
If you are interested in starting up a Spay/Canada facility in your area, please visit the information page which provides downloadable documents, information and suggestions you will need to help you get started.
This is a huge undertaking, but it IS possible, with your help.
