Family Readiness Program

 Note from the Commander

Commanding Officer

As a Corps, we have asked our Marines and their families to make tremendous sacrifices in the pursuit of accomplishing our mission. As expected, Marines and their families have performed in spectacular fashion. I fully understand and appreciate the efforts made by Marines and their families which is why I have made taking care of them among this commands highest priorities. The School of Infantry is identified as a non-deployable unit, but SOI personnel maintain as high a tempo as those who are in deployable units. I recommend that you take advantage of the numerous programs designed to assist with the rigors of being a Marine family including such programs as L.I.N.K.S., CREDO and the ASYMCA. As the Commanding Officer, I welcome your comments, questions or complaints. Please feel free to contact me through the Family Readiness Officer anytime. Finally, I want to thank you for the sacrifices already made and those to come.

Col. Byrne

Note from Family Readiness Officer

Hi, my name is Evie, and I am your new Family Readiness Officer. I am here for you and your families, to help you with Family Readiness. We have an amazing opportunity serving a non-deployable unit here at SOI, we can build the premiere network and have a dynamic impact on our newest Marines and ensure that their spouses are aware of the Family Readiness from the very start. What is Family Readiness you ask, well, per MCO 1754.6A, “Family readiness is defined as families who are prepared and equipped with the skills and tools to successfully meet the challenges of the military lifestyle.  Family readiness directly affects the fundamental purpose of the Marine Corps to make Marines and win battles by building commitment and raising morale, thereby increasing unit readiness." Interpreted that means I am here to be your resource to assist with the complexities of being a Marine Corps Spouse. I am dedicated to helping improve your quality of life by providing the full spectrum of support in any number of capacities from showing you where to find a good babysitter, to helping you sign up for a tuition assistance program and everything in-between. I hope to build a Family Team Building Network (formerly Key Volunteers Network) that will be as large and involved as any deploying unit. I will make sure you are always in the know about what new programs and incentives the Marine Corps is offering, and I will help you to build a peer-to-peer base where you can network and help each other. Please sign up to be a volunteer, help make this command one that all other Family Readiness programs draw their inspiration from.
