Behind this simple looking, high thinking face is the multifaceted personality of Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Omari whose family name is Syed Ansar. An orator par excellence attracting large crowds in his addresses and sermons, a reformer taking initiatives for the welfare of the community and the nation, a prolific writer whose books receive global acclaim, a researcher of deep insight into the Islamic and contemporary sciences, and an Islamic educationist, he continuously strives to utilize his talents to bring moral and religious reform in the society and for the welfare of human beings in this world and the Hereafter. Born in 1935 in the village of Puttegaram of the North Arcot district of Tamil Nadu (India), Maulana Syed Jalaluddin Omari obtained his Masters in Islamic Studies from Jamia Darussalam, Omarabad (T.N.), and later two baccalaureate degrees – One in Persian (Munshi Fazil) from Madras University and the other in English (B.A.) from Aligarh Muslim University. Possessing a soft heart for humanity in general, and for the community and the nation in particular, he puts in his energy and talent for their good in this life and the Hereafter. He contributes dynamically to a large number of religious, educational, dawah, socio-political, and community-based initiatives at both national and international levels. He began his journey in this direction by joining the Islamic Reform Movement in India – Jamaat -e- Islami Hind soon after completing his studies, where has been serving in various capacities. Currently its president, he has also served as vice-president of the Jamaat for seventeen continuous years from 1990 – 2007. He associates and holds responsible positions with various other organizations as well. We mention below some of these organizations and his association with them.
