One of the best second basemen to ever grace the baseball diamond, Ryne Sandberg played the game the way it ws meant to be played, hard and with a ton of heart. During his sixteen year career Sandberg was a ten-time All-Star,the 1984 National League Most Valuable Player, a nine-time Gold Glover and a seven-time Silver Slugger. He is one of the most beloved Cubs to take his position on the dirt at Wrigley Field. Ended his career with .285 lifetime average, with 282 homer runs and 1,061 RBIs. His skill both at the plate and with the glove helped led the Cubs to two division titles in 1984 and 1989. All of Sandbergs hard work was rewarded with election to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2005. His plaque hangs with all the other greats of the game. The Cubbies honored Sandberg by retiring his number 23 only the forth player to have such an honor.
In his second career as a Minor League manager Ryno has begun to shape a new generation of future Cubs stars.

August 2nd Cubs History honored with a temporary exhibit in the Westchester Township History Museum

"Chicago Cubs Through the Ages" is set to open on August 3rd. The temporary exhibit will contain items from the rich history of Chicago Cubs baseball, including uniforms and equipment used by some past greats including Hall-of-Famer Ryne Sandberg.

July 31st Sandberg tabbed to coach in the Arizona Fall League

Minor league baseball officials announced today that Peoria Chiefs skipper Ryne Sandberg will be he batting coach for the Mesa Solar Sox during the 2008 Arizona Fall League. The league begins in mid-October and ends early November. Many of the 20 teams star prospects extend their season by participating in the AFL. Fans in Arizona should have many fond memories of Ryno from his many years of Spring Training in Arizona.

July 29th The Return to Wrigley

Ryne Sandberg will be making his return to Wrigley Field tonight for the first ever Minor League game played at Wrigley Field. Sandberg manages the Peoria Chiefs who will play the Kane County Cougars in the "Road to Wrigley" game at 7:00. Sandberg squashed the rumors that he would insert himself as the second basemen for the game, much to the disappointment of many fans. The dugout at Wrigley was Rynos home away from home for many seasons and it may just be his home again, as he hopes to one day be managing the big club.

July 27th Ryno's annual trip To Cooperstown

Ryne sandberg participated in the single largest gathering of living Hall of Famers ever to be together in one please for the 2008 induction ceremony. This years inductees Goose Gossage ( a former teammate of Ryno) and Dick Williams were honored to have such a huge outpouring of support.

July 15th Sandberg at Yankee Stadium

Ryne Sandberg made his first appearance (EVER) at Yankee Stadium for this years Major League Baseball All-Star Game. It was a thrill to see Ryno standing at second base at the House that Ruth built. Sandberg was part of the festivities leading up to the All-Star game, including some fan-fest activities and some New York City site seeing.
