About the Layout

I glanced over the designs I made on KTD. I believe this is the first one in which the eyes of the character are not shown. All my other ones have exposed eyes- open and closed. I don't know if that's significant, but I thought I'd just point it out. :)
In terms of coding the design, I had some trouble deciding what I really wanted. Things which worked out in IE didn't work out in Firefox. Things which worked out in Firefox didn't work out in IE. Then there were just those little differences between the browsers (of course there're going to be differences, the browsers are made by different people)... like the display of dropdown menus and IE's support of color scrollbars. Compare and contrast:
I'm also a little bothered by the font color of that little space, but it was the best one I could find which could be somewhat legible on the background. As I said, there were some things I liked about Firefox, and some which I liked about Internet Explorer. I was excited to find that Firefox displays its dropdown menus as it does, but then I saw that IE still has its huge border around it. But then again, IE shows its scrollbars...and I especially favor transparency functions.
As for the title of the design, the term "commiserate" is defined as "to sympathsize [with]." This was one of my vocabulary words of the week. When I saw this image yesterday (I haven't seen it for a while), I was reminded of the show- which I thought was rather sad sometimes. I didn't see enough of the show to know if this image has anything to do with something depressing in any way, but this is my best interpretation.
 Finally, for the origins of the design itself, I was actually lacking inspiration when I began working on it yesterday. I opened Photoshop and was doodling around with the pen tool (you can see parts of it in the top left corner). My mom was actually talking to me about clothes, and I just put a part of a shirt collar in there. I usually start with an image and implement a design, but this time the process was reversed.

[ 2 ] Open index.html to edit the content & navigation [and "Can You Commiserate?" -- OPTIONAL].
[ 3 ] Open nav.html to edit small box in the top left corner.
[ 4 ] Upload everything to your server. No direct linking.
