Honor Chemistry I—Francis Scott Key H.S.

WHAT IS CHEMISTRY?

Chemistry is the study of matter.  Matter is defined as anything that has mass and takes up space.  Pretty much everything consists of matter in some way.  This course introduces the basic concepts of Chemistry and relate these concepts to the world around you.  It focuses on the skills and processes of problem solving as they relate to science.  Students become more familiar with laboratory equipment and procedures.  They also acquire skills used to collect and analyze data, as well as gain an understanding of how technology plays a role in science.  This website is designed to provide an overview of what the class is about and the expectations that go along with it. 

Course Goals: 

Enjoy learning about Chemistry

Improve student writing and reading comprehension skills

Develop new lab skills

Prepare for future Chemistry classes and college expectations.
