Two months ago I retired from the United States Marine Corps after serving for over twenty two years. Luckily, I served the last eighteen years in the Camp Pendelton area. This gave me the opportunity to buy a home in nearby Oceanside. One of the things that I don't like about being retired is the fact I got bored very fast. One of the things my wife suggested I do is get back into fishing.

When I was younger I really enjoyed fishing, so I felt that this was a great idea. Considering that I had not gone fishing in about twenty years, I have been going online quite a bit to find out what people were using these days for bait. When I was younger, I used a lot of artificial lures and worms. One of the products I found online, Power Bait, was a product that I had used in the past. The packaging looks a lot different, but at least it was a product I had used before.

One of the other ways I brought myself up to speed was to start looking at the local fishing reports. I am in sort of a unique position. I will have the opportunity to go fishing at some of the local lakes. I will also have the chance to do some fishing on the local beach. Thankfully, there is tons of information about both types of fishing online.

After doing a lot of online research, I decided on the following equipment. I was going to buy an ocean fishing type of rod. I see myself casting from shore, not fishing off of a boat. I am also going to buy a freshwater rod. In addition to the rods, I will be buying both saltwater fishing tackle and freshwater fishing tackle. I'm very excited about my renewed interest in fishing.
