The Better Universe Foundation (BUF) works to break the cycle of child abuse through prevention, education, advocacy and funding.
Better Universe Foundation was organized in bringing relief to abused children. Children who go home after school to a mother or father who takes their frustration out on them for no reason at all. They go to a place they believe is prison, a place that is not even considered a home. Men and Women who don't deserve to be called "mom" or "dad". These children actually look forward to going to school, when most children pretend to be sick to avoid the long dreadful day of learning where as abused children find it as an escape. Boys and Girls of all ages have to find new ways to cover their new bruise or scratch, and new reasons so no one finds out where they came from. Can you imagine having to live a lie? Or having to go to a "home" that you only go to for shelter. These kids will grow up with the pain of being mentally and physically abused and some will result to violence, suicide and some may even become homeless for the simple fact that they've given up on life.

KNOW THE FACTS

1. Four children in the United States die of child abuse in their home each day.(Thats 1,460 children a year being killed from child abuse)

2. Child abuse and neglect is the leading cause of death to children ages four and younger.

3. On average child abuse is reported somewhere in the United States every ten seconds.

4. 84 percent of prison inmates were abused as children.

5. Families with four or more children have higher rates of abuse and neglect.

6. More than 80 percent of abusers are a parent or someone close to a child. Child abuse is far more likely to occur in the child's home than in a day care center.

7. One in thirteen kids with a parent on drugs is physically abused regularly.



With your help/donation, we are able to offer the BUF Foster Fund, a donation for the children who have faced adverse conditions and show the potential to be great and influential memebers of society. This is our first year and we hope to give away a total of $50,000 in funding to help children on their way to success. We CAN do this with your help.
