Once you have obtained all the necessary educational and testing requirements needed to become a licensed real estate agent in Texas from a texas real estate school you must find a sponsor prior to making any sales. You will need to be sponsored by an active Texas real estate broker. Once your sponsorship has been confirmed and authorized, you can then act as a sales representative for that broker.
It is very crucial when you are starting out as a real estate agent that you acquire this sponsorship. While it is not necessarily going to prevent you from obtaining your license, it will prevent you from using your license.
Once you have fulfilled all your requirements and passed all licensing, the TREC will issue an active license to your sponsor and you will be able to start selling. If you pass your licensing prior to finding a sponsor, you will be issued an inactive license until the time that a broker makes a request, on your behalf, to have your license turned active.
