My Bio
I was born in Kipling, Saskatchewan, Canada on February 7,
1957, the eldest of three children. I did all my elementary
and secondary schooling in my hometown of Kennedy, just
14 miles from my birthplace.

My post-secondary education was taken at the University
of Regina where B.Ed. and a B.A. degrees were earned in
the 1980s. My teaching career centered around the home
area in the first decade ('80-'89), at Ituna School in the
second decade ('90-'99), and in various schools in Manitoba
('00-'05) and Saskatchewan ('06 to present) in the third
decade. As a humanities teacher, I've focused on languages
(English and French), Social Studies and Arts Education.

I've had the opportunity to travel extensively around North
America ('70s - '80s), visiting every continental U.S. state
and Canadian province. International travel ('90s) took me
to Britain, Scandanavia, Western Europe, Australia, New
Zealand, Fiji, Hawaii, and South America. The new millenium
has seen a return to travel in Canada centering around
southern Ontario and the Maritime provinces.
My Region
Southeastern Saskatchewan is a place of wide open
spaces. Fertile farmland brushes up close to parkland just
16 miles south of town. Mixed farming of cereal grains and
beef cattle production is the mainstay of agriculture.
Towns and cities provide services for the farms and
industries located along rail lines and major highways.

The wind blows freely on the prairies, bringing warm
breezes from the south in the summer, frigid temperatures
from the north in the winter or rain from the west in the
spring. There's always variety in the four very distinct
seasons.

With roots in a quiet, pastoral setting, I've always returned
from travels abroad or work in other places to this peaceful
land. Here I can go for miles under a clear bright sky and
enjoy the beauty that I've grown up in and still appreciate.
My Home
Built in 1970, this bungalow now serves as my
principle residence. Sitting on a five-lot corner
property, the beautifully treed yard boasts a two
car garage, outbuilding for storage of equipment,
orchard and garden plots.

There's no shortage of work for keeping the yard
looking good, from trimming the hedges and
pruning the ornamental shrubs and trees, to
mowing the lawns and grassy areas around the
garden. There's plenty of nooks and crannies to
sit quietly on a warm summer's day surrounded
by the privacy of thick foliage, listening to the
birds singing and the wind chimes playing.
My City
Regina, capital of Saskatchewan, is the closest
city and the one that I've had most to do with,
both as a resident and a visitor. It was the city
of my mother's birth, and the place where
relatives on both sides of the family still live.

Much of my shopping for products that aren't
available locally in rural stores are bought in
Regina. For many years I've attended professional
theatre and concert series. The city features
modern buildings still being constructed with
classical structures from the early 20th century,
as in this picture of an equestrian statue of
Queen Elizabeth II in front of the Legislative
Building. Regina has the best of the past and the
future.
