Hi, my name, as most of you already know, is Randall Edwards, and I am running for junior class president. I would like to start by wishing luck to everyone running for any office today. As most of you know I am a very hardworking person who will stop at nothing to achieve a goal once I start. I believe I am the best candidate for president because I like to get involved with as many things as I can, and I like to help people, which are good traits in a president if you ask me. I have been in many clubs at Jennings high school, but I won’t list them because I fear you would lose attention, which some of you already have, but just bear with me. I have a few goals that I would like to set for myself for this school year. First I would really like to get our junior class to be the loudest at pep rallies, and even if most of you are certain it will never happen, I could achieve this goal if we held a few meetings to get into the mood, and we all felt like we were a part of the pep rally, deciding on themes, decorations, chants, and so on. As you know we did not have a Sadie Hawkins dance last year. And with the idea of a Christmas dance floating around, I have a few more ideas running through my head so my second goal is to find an alternative to raise money for our prom, so we aren’t left out to dry, and maybe I will have a chance to get a date. This would also give another opportunity for the class to get involved, because I know there are some kids out there who enjoy decorating and planning. This position means a lot to me, because I know what leadership is, and I believe that I am good at it. So I promise to lead through service to you and want you to be actively involved. Unlike last year where we just elected people and then their leadership was never shown again, apart from a resume, we have the chance to meet throughout the year and actually get input directly from the student body. Leadership to me means getting your hands dirty right along side you guys and not being locked away in some room making decisions for you. As I said before I want to get the class involved, more than anyone ever has before, and possibly more than any of you want to. But I’m sure you guys won’t mind working a little bit, I mean you are in school already. But always know I understand you and will always welcome your input on any decision no matter what size. Anyone can tell you that I am a very creative person and I have already come up with tons of ideas to make this a memorable year, which makes me really excited to get this started.
