Frugal Travel Tips For Washington DC

Taking the Kids is your resource for Washington DC for kids family, multi-generational and group travel. Getting inside can be tough but the spiffed up White House visitor center gives you a good taste of what's on offer inside. Visiting both of these cities will definitely be a highlight on your East Coast USA road trip. Any history buffs will love this East Coast itinerary as it will take you from Boston all the way down to Savannah, Georgia, exploring some of the country's most significant attractions along the way.

For the chance to visit a Congressional Gallery when in session, or to tour the White House, contact your Senator or House Rep well in advance of your trip. Famous coastal destinations like Cape Cod, Acadia National Park, and the Connecticut Coastline are certainly worth visiting.

During the U.K.'s school breaks, take advantage of extra programming for kids at already free museums. This is iconic Washington DC. As you make your way to the Washington Monument, you will pass the museums of the Smithsonian Institute. One should definitely explore the outskirts of Washington DC to experience a realer” side of the city, where gentrification is in full effect.

Time traveling is my favorite so I was really excited to find Ted's Bulletin —a great restaurant to grab breakfast, right in the heart of the 20th century …and Washington DC. I arrived at 7:03 am-right after it opened-like the good little time-budget traveler that I am.

A labyrinth of traffic circles and one way streets, driving in Washington DC can be maddening to say the your car at your hotel or find and reserve a parking spot with the SpotHero app. Smithsonian museums flank both sides and war memorials are embedded among the famous monuments to Lincoln, Washington and Jefferson.

Spend the day toting the tots to some of DC's most popular sites and attractions, then it's off to Bethesda, Maryland, for a night of food and fun. You can schedule tours every hour on the hour, but that doesn't mean you or the kids will enjoy three tours a day, four days in a row.
