The Punjab Government costituted Punjab Technical University (PTU) in 1997 by an act of state legislative. The university was enterested with the responsibiltiy of developing the new generation of technical manpower that can be spearhead the industrial development of the state. Punjab Techinal University has been formed to be the grooming ground for the future engineers, Managers and Reserchers.
As of today, PTU affiliates more then 250 Engineering, Management , Pharmacy, Hotel Management and Architecture Colleges in the state that are approved by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE).
Today , The university has more then 1600 Learning Centres spread across the country offreing quality technical education in the field of Information Technolgy and Management .
