The warm summer days have passed and the cooler days of autumn serve as a reminder that the cold days of winter are slowly approaching. With the upcoming winter, much has to be done to prepare for the colder days. If you are a pool owner, then it is important that you prepare your pool for the winter months to prevent damage to your pool that can cause costly repairs when the warmer weather returns. Winterization of your pool ensures that your pool will be working properly when the weather changes to allow usage of the pool. Many remember to cover their pool for the winter but many forget to winterize their pool pumps. Pumps are responsible for circulating the water in your pool which means that water is inside your pump and the pipes leading in and out of the pump. In winter, the water inside can freeze and expand causing pipes or the pump to burst.

Draining pool pumps of all water is a crucial part of winterizing your pool for winter. Once the water is completely drained, it should be covered to further protect it from the harsh elements of winter that can easily damage it.
