Julio Jones and AJ Green

More than any other pair of receivers Julio Jones and AJ Green have been compared to each other. Starting in high school they were the top two receivers in the high pressure world of recruiting. Playing in the ultra-competitive SEC they were the two best receivers. When the NFL draft rolled around they were both first round picks and both were highly rated rookies in daily fantasy sports drafts. Now both are in their second year and the debate rages on in daily fantasy sports leagues.

Both play with very good young quarterbacks and posted great numbers in their first year of daily fantasy sports. Four weeks into the season they’ve solidified their status as the two best young receivers in the game. Jones has more competition playing with Roddy White but he has a better offense to compliment his skills. Green has better stats because he’s by far the best receiver on his team but he faces more double teams. For the time being Green has the better situation and seems more likely to have the better daily fantasy sports year. However Jones has a good long term situation as well. Matt Ryan has ascended to the top tier of fantasy quarterbacks this year and Atlanta is going to be a good offense so long as he’s there.

Meanwhile Andy Dalton has still has doubters. His rookie season was eclipsed by Cam Newton but he was still very good. Dalton hasn’t yet proven that he can match Ryan’s level of production but once the Cincinnati Bengals acquire more offensive talent it seems a foregone conclusion that he will. It also seems like a foregone conclusion that these two will be daily fantasy sports rivals for years to come and they could possibly be top ten receivers heading into next year.
