We start our Genealogy with Patrick Trainor. He came to the US from Down Co, Ireland as an older adult.  We believe he arrived around 1853 and came through Ellis Island and through New York. He was married twice. His oldest son Peter was with his first wife. His youngest two Hugh Francis and Minnabelle were with his second wife - Catherine Murry. Our ancestor, John Thomas Trainor we believe to be born from Partick's first wife, but we are not sure at this time. The children were all born in Down Co. Ireland. We are not sure if they all arrived together or even who arrived first.

Patrick and Catherine (Murry) Trainor, died not to shortly after arriving here from Ireland.

The Trainor's first settled in LaSalle Co, Illinois -Peru area. We do not know where Patrick is buired or when he died. He may be buried around Ottawa, Streator and Utica  area. His wife, Catherine was shown living with her son, Hugh Francis Sr., in the 1870 LaSalle Co, Allen Township, Illinois census records. We do not know where Catherine Trainor is buried or when she died. There is a Tombstone at St. Mary's Cem. in Streator, Illinois with the name Catherine (no dates). This maybe her. She was 85 years old for the 1870 census.

Also living near these trainor in LaSalle Co, Illinois was Edward Trainor.  Edward was born in 1823 and his wife, johanna was born in 1830. Both were born in Ireland. Edward was a stone mason. Their children were all born in Illinois, John in 1850, Edward in 1853, Mary in 1855 and Farrell was born in 1858. We are not sure how Edward traionr might have been related to Patrick. It is possible that Edward was also one of Patrick's sons.

It seems that John Thomas had his half brother, Hught Francis Sr. serve for him during the Civil War.

The above content was written by Cynthia Rung. This information was given to her, by her grandfather, Paul Benard Trainor.  Bernard gathered his information from his sister Loretta, census records and from the descendants of Hugh. Hugh's family changed the spelling to Treanor.
