NORTHERN NY REPTILE RESCUE

We are a family run reptile rescue dedicated in helping reptiles.  We are located around the Plattsburgh, NY area.   In the years of owning reptiles we have found there is no sources for reptile owners in this area.  If you had a unwanted reptile it went back to the pet store for resale.  There is also no education in this area.  Pet stores are misinforming potential owners.  Reptiles are becoming  more popular as pets.   Many people walk into a pet shop and can easily purchase a cute little snake or lizard not realizing that in a few years these pets grow large, consume large amounts of food, and like cats and dogs, when upset they can have a painful bite.   Most pet shops do not offer information about care and behavior.  Their staff are uneducated about the animals they are selling. This is an ever growing problem resulting in many unwanted reptiles.  Our main goal is the education of reptile owners.  We take in unwanted or mistreated reptiles and other small exotics, rehabilitate them and then adopt them out to approved homes.  Any donations or adoption fees we receive are used solely for caring for our rescues; food, vet care and housing. 

Please do not release any captive reptiles or amphibians into the wild. They will not survive in these northern temperatures. You can take your reptile to a local pet store and get a little money for them,  but the next person getting your reptile may no not realize what they are getting into.
