PLEASE DO NOT SHOP AT HUNTINGTON BEACH FORD

THEY STOLE MY CAR AND STUCK ME WITH A TRUCK
I DID NOT WANT AND HATE OWNING

THESE PEOPLE ARE DISHONEST, HIGH PRESSURE SALESPEOPLE WHO WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO LEAVEIN ANYTHING OTHER THAN THE NEW VEHICLE THEY WANT TO SELL YOU.

At the end of March before the taxes were due increase I set out to see if I could trade my car. I was driving a Toyota Rav4 for two years. When I got it I told the dealer that I drive for a living. I put over 30,000 miles on my cars a year. Because of this I was not interested in leasing. I was stupid. I let him talk me into a five year lease (60,000 max miles). After two years the car had about 64,000 miles. The pay off was just under $20,000.

All of the other vehicles I have owned have been trucks. I really wanted to get back into a truck. I have had two Ford Rangers, a Nissan Frontier, and the first truck I owned was a Toyota Pick-up.  I decided I wanted to look at a Ranger or Tacoma. I figured the Ranger would be cheaper but I have since discovered the two trucks are comparable in price.

My basic requirements for a truck for work and personal use are: a 4 cylinder engine (best mileage), automatic (I drove a stick for ten years. That’s enough), Extra Cab or Crew Cab for storage space and secure, lockable storage in the back for expensive company owned equipment. I needed a hard tonneau cover with a lock.

I first went to a Ford dealer with the same owner as the Toyota dealer I leased the Rav4 from. They were unable to make a deal because of the upside-down payoff on the Rav4. I then checked the ads and went to Huntington Beach Ford. Big Mistake!

I told the first salesman I talked to about what I wanted. I also told him I was interested in the Dark Shadow Gray. I also told him the last color I wanted was white. Most of the vehicles I have owned have been white. I hate white. It was usually all they had. I was able to get the Rav4 in silver.

He quickly steered me to a white Ranger, four cylinder, Hand crank windows, cruise, no air, rear slider. I did test drive it. I said I didn’t want it, thanked him and started walking to my car. I didn’t make it. He insisted I let him run numbers and see what kind of deal he could make. I said “all right” and that was the beginning of the end.

A Sales Manager introduced himself to me and said he was taking over the sale. I was asked for the keys and registration in order to appraise the Rav4.  Stupidly, I gave them to him. I never saw them again. He worked a pretty good deal including the cost of the truck and most of the left over amount of the Rav4 with a payment about the same as I was making, but I insisted that I did not want the truck. He asked why? I told him everything that was wrong with the truck. I asked if he could get a truck that would be more like what I did want. He said he would see what he could do and left.

A few minutes later, a third salesman walked in with the package of manuals for the truck and stated that he was there to go over the manuals for “MY NEW TRUCK!” I said that I haven’t agreed to buy it. He was shocked. He proceeded to go over the manuals for the truck. He insisted that I was buying it. I couldn’t believe it.

When the Sales Manager returned, I asked if he found anything. He didn’t seem to know what I was talking about. I asked for my keys and registration back so I could leave. He asked why I didn’t want the truck. I thought I already answered that question. It was apparent that everything I was saying was going in one ear and out of the other. By the time this was over I was certain that no one there had heard a word I said.

He had every reason why white was the best color to get, I didn’t need air in Southern California, everything about the truck was perfect for me and I really wanted it. I said, again, I didn’t want it and asked, again, for my keys and registration back so that I could leave. They weren’t about to let me go. In all I told them I did not want the truck and asked for my car back at least a dozen times.

Later,  I asked again about a Tonneau cover , which he said he would get at cost. He said he would check and asked if I wanted the soft cover with snaps. I almost hit him! He never listened to a word I said. I wound up buying a cover for less than “his cost”.

I often wonder if the word “Sucker” is tattooed on my forehead and just doesn’t appear in my mirror. In the end they broke me. I signed the paper and drove off in this truck that I really hate. I have never been more remorseful about anything.

Since then I have visited a few other Ford dealers to see if I could make a new deal. Because I am financing twice the value of the truck, no one has been able to make a deal that didn’t include a new down payment that I cannot afford and an increase in my monthly payment of over $200. It appears that I am stuck with this truck. I continued looking at Rangers because of my cover which is designed for it.

I have complained to Ford. They offered to forward the complaint to the dealer. I have decided that I will probably never buy another Ford product.

Ford should not allow people like this to run their dealerships. They do not deserve your business. If you want to buy a new Ford I would recommend Mills Ford in Anaheim, Villa Ford in Orange or Cerritos Ford in Cerritos. They were unable to help me but they were fair and honest with me.
