Cari and Grandma’s 2003 trip to Great Britain and Europe Wednesday August 20th our journey began. Cari Left Memphis to meet Grandma in Pittsburgh. We were both hoping that Grandma’s flight would be on time because even if the plane was only a few minutes late Cari would have to fly to London on her own. But Grandma’s plane arrived early and Cari was waiting at her gate with a fresh cup of coffee. We gave each other a hug and walked excitedly clear across the airport to board our international flight to London. We boarded our plane and sat down in our seats glad that we had checked our luggage. Our flight was packed and we knew that it would be an interesting flight when the woman in front of us sat down and immediately drew the shade to the window that was in between our rows. (But really it was closer to us) We hadn’t even taken off yet and already Grandma was playing battle of the window shade with this woman. This continued for the rest of the trip to London. On the flight neither one of us slept a wink as we watched movies to pass the time and talked excitedly about what we were going to do once we arrived in London. Thumbing through our trusty Rick Steve’s guide book to Great Britain we found the chapter on London and decided that after we found our hotel the best thing to do would be to take a City Sightseeing tour to get our bearings. We couldn’t believe that our dream was finally coming true after planning this trip for over a year and a half. |
