How To Do Conversational Hypnosis

Would it amaze you if we can put things in one’s mind and convince them to make them believe something we want to? In, your wildest imagination, do you think this is possible? Do you think we can? The term conversational hypnosis suggests that we can.

However, it may not be as easy as we think it is. Conversational hypnosis is a step-by-step series of strategies and manipulations very well-choreographed that could bring people to your own point of you. Simply said, we can “suggest” something to someone and having a positive response to it.

Before we wander anywhere else and deeper into conversational hypnosis, let’s first get to know the genius behind such principle. Conversational hypnosis was first conceived by psychotherapist Milton Erickson. He believed that trance states, or more commonly known as daydreaming, were not rare occurrences that had to be elaborately and easily induced to a person. Erickson believed people slip into trance states several times a day, for instance, when we are looking at something or simply just thinking. He also believed that forcing something into one’s mind will simply lead to resistance, thus he theorized a series of steps to influence compliance and attain the state of trance.

The first step in conversational hypnosis is to establish rapport with the subject. This means agreeing with what they have to say even if deep inside you don’t. For example, the subject says, “This is impossible.” In conversational hypnosis, the best response would be, “Yes, that’s correct. This really is impossible.” That way the subject becomes comfortable with you and would eventually trust you.

The second step in conversational hypnosis is to make the subject confuse. Start a topic, usually a question that makes the issue most confusing. A simple question like, “Say this is impossible, but are you certain for a fact that really there is not a single possibility now or in the future?” This way you mix up information inside your subject’s brain, creating a picture of chaos.

An alternative technique used to create confusion in conversational hypnosis reverse psychology. You put more coal on top of the subject’s head. You tell him, “It sure is impossible and there is no way in a million years that you could think of any possibility.” This will also confuse his mind so he’ll probably start to argue with you that he can.

The last and final step in conversational hypnosis is to make an indirect suggestion. An effortless one is saying, “It seems to me that you’re starting to come up with a possibility in this,” or “Your face is a little less frowned and becoming more lighted than before. I see hope in your eyes.”

Above is just a short summary of what conversational hypnosis is. If you really want to know more or maybe experience it, seek professional attention. Conversational hypnosis is not easy a job, thus better left in the hands of real hypnotists.
