Leslie Reed's Online Portfolio

Welcome to my online portfolio. Here you will find many of the qualifications that would make me a great addition to your staff. Through the links below you can view my resume, teaching license, letters of recommendation, sample work, and evaluations. There are also pictures of my current classroom as well as classrooms I have been a part of in the past.

A little bit more about me:
*I am the middle of three daughters to two wonderful parents, one of which is also teacher. I was born in California but have lived on the westside of Indianapolis since I was five.
*I attended Wayne Township schools and graduated from Ben Davis High School in 2003. I attended IU in Bloomington for two years and then moved back home and went to IUPUI for two years. I graduated in 2007 with my degree in Elementary Education.
*I student taught in IPS and Wayne Township in 2006-2007. After graduation I filled in for two maternity leaves, one in Wayne Township and one in IPS. I also did a long-term sub position, also in IPS. In 2008 I started teaching 6th grade in Decatur at the Intermediate Learning Center. I currently teach Language Arts and Social Studies half-time on the Excellence Community.
*I enjoy reading all kinds of books. Harry Potter and Lemony Snicket's Series of Unfortunate Events are two of my favorite book series. I also enjoy Roald Dahl, James Marshall, and Dr. Seuss books. I have a cat named Jack and a dog named Zoe. I got married in 2007 and went to Jamaica afterwards. Traveling is also one of my favorite hobbies. I have been to Canada, Colorado, Gulf Shores, Chicago, Yellowstone National Park, and the Grand Canyon. I hope to travel to Russia, Hawaii, and parts of Western Europe.

My Classroom Features

I have so many books that keeping them organized could be hard at times. So, I decided to organize them by different categories: genre, author, award winners, series, and others.

I also have a section of non-fiction and resource books that I keep seperate. That way, these books are very easy to find and use.

One of my favorite spots in my classroom is the reading corner. Here I have a comfy bowl-chair, pillows, a fun rug, and more books. This is where students can relax and read independently in quiet, small groups.

Previous Classes

I student taught 4th grade at North Wayne Elementary School in Wayne Township.

I also student taught 1st grade in IPS at Carl Wilde Elementary School, #79.

After graduation, I filled in as a long term substitute at IPS #79 in the first grade. This picture shows my students with their Thinking Hats on.
