My Training

I trained as a music teacher in Hanover music college obtaining a music degree in 1984. My main instrument was the violin, but I also studied the piano and singing at college.

As a young musician I studied the recorder for several years privately and performed with the instrument at a number of concerts.

Rates

I currently charge £ 10 per half hour lesson. The length of a lesson depends on the stage of learning the pupil is at. For beginners half an hour is plenty, more advanced students will require more time to go through all the material studied.

Lessons are normally paid in advance for the half term. It is also possible though to arrange one lesson at a time.

Musical Styles

I am a classically trained musician with many years of performing experience in orchestras and smaller ensembles. I currently play in the Crosby Symphony Orchestra, which performs 4 or five times in Crosby and Liverpool .

For the last 4 years I have been a member of the folk group Time Ashore. In that group I play my violin as well as recorders, tin whistles and the mandolin.

We play at events and social evenings in clubs and churches in the area.

In recent years I have taken up Jazz violin and am currently playing with the band Swingology, a six piece band, which plays tunes in the style of Django Reinhard and Stefane Grapelli. We play regularly in Crosby and Liverpool pubs and clubs.
