NEW QUICK SHORTCUTS ON WINDOWS 10

 

Windows 10 has a lot of changes compared to older versions of Windows both in terms of interface and usage. Quick shortcuts also have many new keys. View, and remember some new quick shortcuts to use Windows 10 faster.

1.      Basic quick shortcuts on Windows 10

  • Windows key + A: open the Action Center (also the Notifications Center)
  • Windows key + I: Open Windows Settings
  • Windows key + S: open Cortana virtual assistant (command, search by keyboard) - also search engine on Windows 10
  • Windows key + Q: open Cortana virtual assistant (in voice command mode)
  • Windows key + X: Open the right-click menu similar to when you right-click the Start button

2.      Split screen feature (Snap)

  • Windows key + left arrow: Split the screen in 2 and open the open application in the left window.
  • Windows key + right arrow: Split the screen in 2 and open the open application in the right window.

 Combine these shortcuts to divide the screen into 4, for example, press the Windows Key + right arrow button, and then press the Windows Key + up arrow key to divide the screen into 4 sections and open the open application in the corner 1 / 4 screen on the top right.


3.      Multitasking quick shortcuts

  • Windows key + Tab: Open Task View.
  • Alt + Tab: Quickly switch between open programs.
  • Ctrl + Alt + Tab: Similar to Alt + Tab but you don't have to hold the Alt button, use the arrow keys or Tab to move, Enter to select.

4.      Virtual desktop shortcuts:

  • Windows key + Ctrl + D: create a new virtual desktop.
  • Windows key + Ctrl + left / right arrow: move quickly between virtual desktops.
  • Windows key + Ctrl + F4: close the current virtual desktop.
  • Windows key + Tab: see all open virtual desktops.

5.      Command Prompt keyboard shortcuts (CMD):

  • Ctrl + V or Shift + Insert: Paste text at the position of the mouse cursor.
  • Ctrl + C or Ctrl + Insert: Copy text to clipboard.
  • Ctrl + A: Select all text in current line (if that line contains text), if it is a blank line, select entire text.
  • Shift + left / right / up / down arrows: Move the cursor left one character / right one character / up one line / one line down and select, highlight it.
  • Ctrl + Shift + Left / Right: Move the mouse cursor left / right one word and select, highlight the word.
  • Shift + Home / End: Move the mouse cursor to the beginning or the end of the current line and select, highlight text on the scroll line.
  • Shift + Page Up / Page Down: Move the mouse cursor up or down a screen and select the entire text in that screen.
  • Ctrl + up / down arrow: Move one line up and down, similar to scrolling pages.
  • Ctrl + Page Up / Page Down: Move one screen up and down, similar to scrolling pages.
  • Ctrl + F: Open the search dialog.
  • Alt + F4: Close the CMD window.


6.      Some other quick shortcuts:

  • Windows key + L: Quick computer lock.
  • Windows key + E: open File Explorer (Quick access).
  • Windows key + T: move select applications under the taskbar in order from left to right and press Enter to open.
  • Windows key + number [1… 9]: run the application on the taskbar in the correct position from 1 → 9.
