My Pets Wyatt and Colt
Wyatt's Story
Colt's Story
Dues Test
In October, 2008 I was lucky enough to adopt two stray cats. I commonly referred to them
as "the twins" since they looked so much alike. The vet guessed their age to be between
5 and 7 weeks during our initial visit, so I gave them a Labor Day birthday.
Wyatt's Story
Meet Wyatt. Wyatt was born to smooze. He loved to greet visitors, and I loved to let him.
I knew Wyatt would never scatch, bite or do anything other than try and get the visitor
to pet him and let him take a nap on their lap. I could count on a visit every evening around 10. He would jump on my lap and purr
(for hours if I let him).
Unfortunately, Wyatt got sick and had to be
euthansized in July, 2009. I added his picture just so he's not forgotten. He was an extremely friendly
cat.
If you have a male cat,
watch out for Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease (FLUTD). It's rare, but can be deadly.
It's symptoms are:
- urinating outside the litter box (Wyatt didn't)
- sounding distressed when urinating (Wyatt didn't)
- interrupted urine flow (small pebbles if you use clumping litter).
When FLUTD becomes life threatening, the symptoms progress to:
- refusal to eat.
- lethargy, cat will not walk, play, eat, etc.
- vomiting.
- inability to pass urine
