Meaningful Topics I Learned in CISB11

Ever since I was little, my dream when I grow up is to become one of the top computer companies in the world. This is my first year in college and of course, this is the first class I took for my major. I had a great time learning about computers, how everything work right at home, even though it’s tough because you’re on your own, but I managed. I have to admit, other than school, I am usually on the computer. Computer had made a great impact on me, at first I know nothing about it until now, and I can even build my own from scratch. Some topics that I learned from this class that I never nor had a chance to know how computers actually work, how to create a website, and how internet actually work.

When I got my first computer, all i knew was to press the power button and it turns on by itself. Today, computer is part of my must do thing when I wake up. I communicate with my relatives and friends through MSN, AIM, and SKYPE. I also check e-mail on my computer. After few weeks learning about computers, I have learned to understand how computer actually work and how each character that I am typing right now are being process onto the computer.

Building a computer may sound hard because you have to know where and what to connect onto the mother board, but after my friend have taught me how to connect them, I think it is pretty easy. After obtaining more information from CISB, I start to know what each thing are instead of just knowing the name of it. I have learn that not only I can obtain more information about computers but I can spend less money and build a better and faster computer than going to Bestbuy and buy a computer that should only cost 400 but they’re selling it for 900.

Creating a website is what my dad always wanted me to do for his company, but it never really came true. Although this is only my first computer class I took in Mt.Sac, I learn how to actually create a basic website from scratch to a professional website in the future and probably make money out of it.

Internet has become the most important need in our life today. About six or seven years ago, my parent would just call an internet technician to come and fix or install the internet, which cost money. After few years, I start to learn how to connect wire/wireless internet through a modem and save money.

I personally think this class really benefits me because I am majoring in CIS (Computer Information System). My goal in the future is to start my own company, and business in something that has to do with computer. Taking this class can let me learn more about computer and probably be the most important skill I have in the future.
