Johnny Angel by Danielle Steel is about a family in turmoil. Teenage Johnny dies in a tragic car accident that leaves his family lost in grief. His mute brother becomes non responsive. His alcoholic father slips deeper into his addiction. His sister is consumed with anger. His mother is so deep in mourning that she physically deteriorates.
When his mother is rushed to the hospital in a life threatening emergency she awakes in a daze to discover her dead son at her bedside.
The rest of the novel involves Johnny and his mother working to patch the family back together.
The book was an interesting read with a plot that kept me interested though I wouldn't call it a page turner. It was similar in feel to Sister's; another of Steel's novels.
I am not always a fan of Danielle Steel. I feel she either hits the mark or misses the target entirely. This book hit the mark. I give it a 4 of 5 rating.
