Marshawn Lynch
Seattle
Seahawks’ running back Marshawn Lynch is coming off of his best season ever in
fantasy football games. Lynch ran for a career-high 1,590 yards last season in
his second full season with the Seahawks and ran for 11 touchdowns in addition
to that. Of course, all of that was overshadowed by the amazing performance of
Minnesota’s Adrian Peterson who wound up falling just nine yards short of
breaking Eric Dickerson’s single season rushing record and also the performance
of Washington’s Alfred Morris who came out of nowhere to be an incredibly
capable complimentary piece to rookie of the year candidate Robert Griffin III
in the Redskins’ backfield. So, can we expect Lynch to have an even better
season in fantasy football games in 2013?
Here
are some reasons why we should. For the only the second time in his career in
2012, Lynch played in all 16 games. Lynch is not injury prone per se, but like
most running backs (especially power running backs like Lynch), he is going to
take his fair share of punishment even while he is doling out punishment to the
defenders trying to tackle him. Lynch looks like he is getting stronger and
stronger and this would point to him being successful again in the future.
Lynch also average five yards per carry last season which was the best of his
entire career.
The Seahawks ran the football at a higher clip than anyone else in fantasy football games last season, and while quarterback Russell Wilson continues to improve, there is a good chance that Lynch will see lots of carries again next season (he had a career high 315 carries this past season as well. Lynch is in the prime of his career and there is good reason to suspect that he will be dominant once more in fantasy football games next season.
