Fantasy football is a
competition where those playing it compete against others as general managers
of a virtual team. The team that one manages are football players in the
National Football League. The things that you are able to do are trade, draft,
drop or add players, and change rosters.
There are many different
fantasy football leagues to choose from. A couple of them are the total points
leagues and head-to-head leagues. The total points leagues have teams
accumulate points throughout the season. The team who has the highest number of
points throughout the season will advance to the playoffs. As for head-to-head
leagues, each team matches up with a different team every week and plays them.
The team who wins the most points in that game wins for that week. Teams who
have the best win-loss record for the season will advance to the playoffs.
For scoring, players earn
points based on their performance in their weekly games. In most cases, the
players will earn points for rushing, passing, and receiving yards. Negative
points can also be received if there are turnovers. Usually the scoring format
follows for example: 1 point for 25 passing yards, 6 points for a touchdown, 2
points per turnover gained by defense, 2 points for each blocked kick, 2 points
for a safety by defense, 1 point for each extra point made, and so forth.
Many of the leagues are
composed of co-workers, family, friends, and also strangers. Millions of
dollars are lost and won every year in the fantasy football league betting. The
Federal government has said that it is not illegal because it is not a game of
chance.
So as you can see, this game is about competition. It is for those who want to see what it would be like coaching professional players during the season.
