Curtis Granderson

It was a disappointing year for the New York Yankees by Yankees’ standards. This is a team that is supposed to constantly be competing for championships. They are the standard by which all other clubs are based and they have more fantasy baseball talent than anyone. Despite the fact that this team collapsed in the playoffs there’s no reason to downgrade New York players in fantasy baseball for next year, unless of course they play for the Mets. The best of the best in New York right now in terms of fantasy is Curtis Granderson. The Yankees’ slugger accounted for 43 homeruns last year which was good for second most in the entire AL. Granderson led the Yankees’ offense in many ways but the question is whether or not he’ll be able to repeat his exploits next year in fantasy baseball or whether he’s poised for a letdown.

There is reason to worry somewhat about Granderson heading into 2013. His .232 batting average in 2012 was the lowest of his career in the majors. He also hit a five year low for stolen bases. It seems as though age is catching up rather quickly to Granderson but don’t let it scare you away from the slugger in MLB fantasy baseball for money drafts this year. You can feel free to downgrade him a bit but don’t go overboard. He’s not as good as he used to be but he’s still an amazing homerun hitter with the potential for triple digit RBI in 2013. Granderson will be an early round pick in your fantasy baseball for money draft. Expect him to go somewhere between the third and fifth rounds depending on how your league scores. Homeruns are at a premium these days in fantasy baseball so you’re going to need to get good hitters early or risk losing out on this important category entirely.
