This is a basic approach to digital film editing using I-Movie. Students will cut clips, create transitions, work with audio, create titles, export and burn a DVD.

 Monday  April 14 2008 3:00-6:30 PM Photoshop For Beginners

This workshop will be a practical look at Adobe Photoshop. Students will design their own business card or CD cover. Students will take a design concept from drawing and idea to finished product. Students will learn to navigate around the software, about file compression and resolution. Students will import from camera or scanner and learn about file sizes.

 Tuesday April 15, 2008 3:00-6:30 PM Graphic Design for Beginners

Students will work with fonts, layouts, and compositions and create energetic unique designs. The class will cover the basics of how to train the eye to see good design and how to create good designs.

 Wednesday April 16 2008 3:00- 6:30 PM  Film Noir Project class 1

Students will create a film in the film noir style. Students should come prepared with a short outline of a script about inner conflict (your choice) and we will turn the best script or collection of scripts into our film. Students will story board ideas create scenes and plan out dialogue. To be filmed on a later date.

 Thursday April 17, 2008 6:00- 7:30 PM   Screen Writing with Aaliyah MillerStudents will get a chance to meet a professional screenwriter and talk with her about what the pros are looking for. Aaliyah is a member of the New York Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, her script Finding Patience was selected for a staged reading at HBO Inc. Aaliyah’s credits in theatre, television and film include Moonshine (2006 Official Sundance selection), Father Panik Village: The Untold Story (2005), and Health for Children (2004), an educational video series for children in grades K-5, and Who’s Sarah Davis? (2003), An off-Broadway play. Introduction to Screenwriting:In this introductory workshop you’ll learn the basic tools needed to properly format your screenplay, as well as basic screenwriting fundamentals, such as knowing your genre, the three-act structure, screenwriting terminology, why you should develop an outline, and the importance of building strong characters to carry your story. The workshop will also provide handouts on additional screenwriting resources like books on scriptwriting, online resources, and contests.   Friday April 18, 2008 3:00-6:30 PM   Silent Film project class 1

Students will create a film in the silent style. Students should come prepared with a short outline of a script that they think might work as a silent picture. The class will be a story boarding and planning session for a later film.

 Monday April 21 2008 6:30-7:30  Pod casts and Garage band for Beginners

Students will learn the basics of Garage Band to record audio. Students will edit and mix audio tracks. Students will learn how to export and upload to a pod cast hosting site. Students will create a live group show and get experience talking as part of a broadcast.

 Monday April 28 2008 6:30-7:30 Free Web Designing For Beginners

Students will learn the basics of how to create their own websites for free using hosting sites. Students will get the ins and outs of free hosting, blogging, pod cast sites, video uploading and self-promoting. Students will also learn what is good to pay for and what is not.

 Wednesday April 30 2008 6:30-7:30   The Documentary Film Project class 1

Students will be introduced to the documentary film, how to interview a guest without leading them, the concept of yellow journalism. Lighting sound and professionalism on the shoot. We will also look at some example films in this style.
