Dr. Jerry Roherty has succesfully been providing individual and family counseling, and consulting with academic staff at all levels of the educational process for over 20 years. Dr. Roherty is a member of the National Register of Psychologists and is licensed in Wisconsin as a Clinical Social Worker and Doctor of Psychology. He completed his Masters Degree in social work at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee ('89), and his doctorate in Counseling Psychology at Marquette University ('00). Dr Roherty has served as an Associate Lecturer in the Psychology Department at the University of Wisconsin-Washington County since 2003; taught courses in Adolescent Psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and Developmental & Counseling Psychology courses at Marquette University. Dr. Roherty is qualified to clinically treat and psychologically evaluate a wide variety of pyschological disorders. He will more typically approach cases from a Humanistic, Systemic and Interpersonal theoretical approach. His specific areas of interest, training and psychotherapy experience included: Pre-teen and Adolescent issues; Attachment issues, Styles & Problems (and related Couples work, as needed), Family Systems & Parenting Issues; Acute, Chronic and Complex Trauma & or Grief Assessment & Treatment; Post-Separation & Divorce Adjustment Issues for children and parents, and Academic & Personality Testing for academic, treatment and forensic purposes. Dr. Roherty emphasizes a holistic treatment approach that involves a thorough assessment of the presenting problems and underlying causes. Psychotherapy Treatment at Answers often does not necessitate the use of psychopharmocological treatment (i.e., medication) for a variety of mental health conditions. To ensure client safety, Dr. Roherty regularly assesses treatment progress, with respect to symptom relief within a reasonable time frame, consults with qualified medical doctors & psychiatrists about medication options, and will not hesitate to make referrals for medical consultation as an adjunct to treatment if the situation is warranted. |
