Our Mission: We are committed to providing a social and educational environment for stroke or brain injury survivors, caregivers, and families through a support group available to the Northeast Georgia community.

Our Vision: It is the vision of Different Strokes of North Georgia to continuously provide current and reliable resources in a social setting to be sponsored by the Physical Therapy students of North Georgia College and State University.

Values and Philosophy: The Different Strokes of North Georgia is a regional network of stroke and brain injury survivors and caregivers sharing information, experience and support with anyone affected by stroke or brain injury. We aim to provide opportunities based on the values of volunteerism, beneficence, altruism, compassion, social and professional duty. In alignment with the American Stroke Association, we would like this group to meet the following goals:

* Provide accurate information for group education that promotes a better understanding of stroke and brain injury recovery, rehabilitation, and prevention of recurrent stroke.

* Offer a way for stroke and brain survivors to meet others with similar challenges and experiences and provide mutual positive support.

* Renew hope and promote independence by offering opportunities for survivors to challenge themselves and to continue to improve their performance of daily activities.

* Provide caregivers and family members a structured way to and support each other.

* Offer stroke and brain injury families the resources and support they need to live an active and satisfying life while coping with their losses and disabilities due to stroke or brain injury.
