Dear who ever:
I am applying for an internship at in Washington, D.C. in the legal services field during, from. I have become interested in the field of law while pursuing a bachelor’s degree in history at the University of California, San Diego. In addition, my involvement on the UCSD Speech and Debate Team has given me the opportunity to strengthen my public speaking and communication skills. This position seems to be ideal for my experience and career interests and I am confident that I can contribute to your organization.
Because I am aware of the services and clients you work with, such an internship would allow me to apply my skills obtained from both work and academic experiences and really make a difference in peoples’ lives while bringing an enthusiastic and fresh perspective to your organization.
Over the last year I have been working for the San Diego Superior Court as a Pre-Trial Services Intern. I am responsible for researching the criminal history of alleged felons, conducting interviews of defendants for bail review hearings, and verifying information for references. Through this internship, I have gained strong skills in writing, interviewing, and interpersonal communication. Also, I have been able to apply my academic background to this setting. As a History major, I have worked hard to maintain a competitive GPA, earning Provost’s Honors for the last two years, and have gained strong research and critical thinking skills. My additional course work in Public Law has provided me with insight into the operations of Congress and the Supreme Court, into the Constitution, and the judicial process.
I’ve attached my resume, recommendation letters, and school transcripts for your review. I look forward to talking with you about the possibility of interning with your organization. Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Dale Doherty |
