Why does literacy matters in our content area?
Literacy matter in social studies and every other content area also. Social Studies requires students to read and comprehend different facts from history. On this website you will find a few strategies to help you increase literacy in social studies classroom everywhere.

I have helpful things here from my content area reading class. There are pre-reading strategies, Marzano strategies, guided reading strategies, critical literacy strategies, writing strategies, and study skills that could help you teach reading in your classroom even if it's not an English class.
