The Community Planning
Association
(CPA) is a 501 (C) (3), Community Development Corporation and a
Community
Housing Development Organization. The
CPA was founded in July 1996 and incorporated in December, 1997. The organization’s mission is to provide
economic
development programs to create jobs maintain safe neighborhoods and
provide affordable
housing for low to moderate income families.
This mission is fulfilled through projects, which involve
residents and
businesses.
The CPA is charitable,
geographic,
democratic, accountable, and comprehensive in vision.
In addition it is, multifaceted, empowering,
and pragmatic. The CPA collaborates with
the City of Detroit, Wayne County, the public sector, nonprofit sector,
and the
private sector to provide programs and services for the neighborhoods
it
serves.
The CPA’s purpose is
to provide to
our service area a wide variety of innovative and constructive
neighborhood
revitalization opportunities. The goal
of these projects is to improve the physical, economic, social, and
overall
quality of life for the residents.
The CPA broadly targets the seven sectors illustrated below that can have a significant positive impact upon the community through programs and services.
1. Economic
Development. Creating and
preserving employment opportunities in our neigborhoods.
2. Education.
Investing in quality youth programming,
education and training programs.
3. Housing.
Revitalization and improvement of housing. Acknowledgement
that
quality,
affordable,
and
safe housing are keys to a better community.
4. Human
Services. Coordinate planning
and access to human services.
5. Infrastructure.
A plan for the future community which
includes proper infrastructure.
6. Public
Safety. Creating full
strength
and responsible public safety that will result in safe and healthy
neighborhoods.
7. Quality of Community/Empowerment. Promoting the quality and empowerment of the community.
