Louis C. Collins Family

Giles County, Virginia

This site starts with my Grandparents,

Louis Chapman Collins (Pa Lou) and Caldonia Stump Collins (Granny Donie).

I don't know how or when they met, but they did meet. Because of this - you are able to learn more of them, their descendents (us) and ancestors.

Pa Lou was born on March 12, 1883, in Pembroke, Virginia, the only child of Samuel Thomas and Mary Alice (Mattox) Collins. He had three sons and five daughters with Granny Donie between 1904 and 1921. He died on September 13, 1969, in Pembroke, Virginia, at the age of 86.

Pa Lou was born in 1883. I have found 2 dates - March 12 and September 12. His headstone shows September 12, 1883 but the records at the courthouse show March 12, 1883

He was living in Giles, Virginia, when he registered for the World War I draft. He registered for the World War II draft in 1942 at the age of 58.

Granny Donie was born Caldonia Alice Stump on January 21, 1880. Based on information from the 1880 census, she was born 1878. Her father was William A. Stump (b-1849).

When Granny Donie was born about 1878 in Radford, Virginia, her father, William, was 29 and her mother, Winnie, was 26. She died on March 1, 1957, at the age of 79.

Pa Lou and Granny Donie were married in 1902. They remained together for over 50 years until her death in 1957. Pa Lou lived for another 12 years.

They had 8 children

Click on the name to go to their family page - I've included some pictures. I don't have a lot of information and I don't have as many pictures as I would like.

You can "right click" on any of the pictures to save them for yourself.
