General Information

From a golden's point of view, we have an innate intelligence, gentle disposition, and are easy to train. Goldens live comfortably with other dogs, cats, farm animals, children, and families. Our gentle nature make us a dedicated companion and life long friend.

Breed History

Our ancestors came to America from Scotland and were mainly used for hunting. During the time between 1868 and 1872 Scottish Lord Sir Dudley Marjoribanks created the Golden Retriever according to The Golden Retriever (2005) by Eve Adamson and Wayne Hunthausen.

The Golden Retriever breed was bred using the following breeds: Golden Retrievers came to America in the 1920's and the breed thrived in the midwest. So now you know some historical facts of how we came to be one of the most charming and popular family dogs in the U.S.A.
