Jobs?
The tradition of after-school jobs has been going on for a long time, but recently, there has been a decline in the participation of teens in such tasks. While experts say that it is because the criteria for minimum wage jobs have been raised, some also consider hectic schedules and increased difficulty in academic disciplines as the key factor for the drop in the rate.
But there are many advantages associated with allowing your kid to step out of their house and comfort zone to work after-schools jobs.
Financial Independence
While many part-time jobs do not pay very well, your kid can learn the skills of earning money and spending it wisely. Working for cash can also teach them how to spend responsibly, and they can save it for concert tickets or their favorite guitar.
Experience
Even if the job is not relevant to the field, children can learn work ethics like punctuality or the art of dealing with customers so if in the future, they get a similar job, they can do it without much difficulty.
Productive Time
When teens have extra time on their hands, they either spend it by browsing through social media or roaming around with their friends. Working an after-school job would make them spend their time efficiently without getting bored.
Socialize
If your kid has been going to the same school since the primary level, then their opportunities to meet new individuals and learn are minimum. If you feel that it is not compromising with their academic schedule, then they can continue working during the school year as well.
