The Budapest Swing Quartet
Budapest Swing Quartet has often been referred to as "one of the best Swing groups in the Southern Hemisphere". Bob Jones, Dimitri Edmonds, and Paul Tucker founded the group about four years ago. American expatriate Kiwi guitarist Ron Sparling joined the BSQ a year later and contributed excellent rhythm guitar to the group's sound.
Before founding Pendulum, Dimitri Edmonds established his reputation in the 1980s as a member of the popular band "Puha Bandidos". Bob Jones gained fame early for his powerful and tasteful vocals, delighting audiences throughout North America, Europe, & Australia with regular concert, television, & radio appearances since the 1970s. We continue to work to improve this page and hope it will just keep getting better. You can check out a list of songs the Budapest Swing Quartet performs. Above, you've seen photographs of some of the members of Pendulum , and we've told you a little about of the group. We plan to have individual pages giving details about each of the members of BSQ soon.
If you like the popular music of the '20s, '30s, & '40s (and good Swing from later decades); if you like Fats Waller, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Joe Venutti, Stephane Grappelli, Django Reinhardt, Glenn Miller, the Dorsey brothers, Ambrose, Fletcher Henderson, Louis Prima, Louis Jordan, Louis Armstrong, Mel Torme, Count Basie, Stuff Smith, Eddie South, Nat "King" Cole, Jon Hendricks; if you like good Swing, superb vocals, good music, then you owe it to yourself to hear the BSQ. If you have already heard the Budapest Swing Quartet perform, you know what we mean.

Here you see Bob Jones, on the left with the violin, and David Church, on the right with the guitar. In addition to performances with the Budapest Swing Quartet group, Bob performs with internationally known Swing combo Pendulum on occasions. In Pendulum, Dave's solid rhythm and Bob's soaring violin breaks give a fiery Hot Club feel to their music, while their vocals--and especially their vocal harmonies--epitomize Swing at its best.
