an exploration in explanation, a deviance in conventional thought

When exploring what we know to be truth we find there is no truth. This world is made up of 6+ billion human perspectives and an innumerable amount of perspectives that belong to other living things. What perspectives dominate our world? Do those perspectives proliferate by repetition of their ideas, do they explain the realities or often oversimplify? Humans have molded this world into it's current shape and form, but is it one that is fair or democratic? Is it one that will last for as long as this earth is inhabitable? Is it one that promotes love, kindness, generosity, empathy? How about the freedom to live your life how you want? when thinking about the decisions made in life, were they to get a well-paying job, or were you truly pursuing your dreams; what dreams do people have today aren't somehow related to money (becoming an actor, successful musician, sports star.) How does our economic system, the purveyor of our basic needs, reflect on our culture and society? Does globalization actually uphold the virtues of economic stability and decreasing the gap between rich and poor? The gap between the incomes of the richest and poorest countries was about 3 to 1 in 1820, 35 to 1 in 1950, 44 to 1 in 1973, and 72 to 1 in 1992, 82 to 1 in 1995. (SOURCE: United Nations Development Report, 1999) Do children starve in the third world because the countries can't grow food or because the food grown on their land is exported? Do we play a part in natural destruction, human degridation, economic warfare? Perhaps the attempt to understand such things is meaningless, it's going to happen anyway right? One person may not be able to demand much, but multitudes of people thinking beyond the world we live has allowed the expansion of freedoms in the past (we don't live in the Middle Ages anymore.) Listen closely to the tele-promter readers on the television, are they representing public opinion or creating it? The same institutions that will spend hours and weeks repeating information about Michael Jackson is supposed to be informing you about the state of our world! So explore, learn, grow, and act, we create the world we live in and we give the power to these institutions.

Sept.22.2009-For now the site will manage links to sites and specific articles, to suggest a link or an article, an email would suffice!

Sept.24.2009-Started on the link archive for globalization among other subjects. I'm going to try to expand as I go, starting with the easiest links to find and then backtracking to post articles and sites to hopefully create a more balanced opinion.

Sept.29.2009-Links on food, health, and industry. There is a great full documentary on Monsanto.

"This is what free trade's all about, it's about the freedom to buy and sell anything—even people."
- Haniford Schmidt, WTO Representative
