Beat the high cost of both food and gas
     Eat well on a budget
     Invest in a farm
Have your food delivered to you
     Know who grows your food
See where your food is grown
     But locally grown food
     Keep your money local

With the price of both food and gas going up year after year, and with more of our food coming from who knows where, the idea of buying locally grown food makes more sense than ever.  This year, why not join a CSA program? What is a CSA program?

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. A farmer offers shares in his or her farm for the upcoming growing season. By purchasing a share, or a subsciption, a buyer has purchased the right to receive a share of whatever comes out of the ground for each and every week during harvest season.

Here at Black Dog Farms, we offer a couple of different ways to participate in our farm box program. A member, or shareholder, buys one share, in the spring, and just as soon as we start harvesting our goodies, we begin delivering one box per week, to each shareholder. In our case, the one box equates to approximately one bushel of food. Of course the amount varies over the course of the season. Last year we ran from the third week in May until the last week in October. 22 weeks of fresh, naturally grown vegetables, hand picked, packed, and delivered!

For our deliveries, we use our own hand built, custom farm boxes. Each week, once we get up and running, our deliveries are made on Mondays, and include a list of what is in the box, plus a recipe or two. Once or twice in the summer, we host a farm dinner for our members, including some type of entertainment.

For 2013 we will be offering 15 shares and 5 trial shares. For more information please visit our listing
